The Wellness Committee sponsored a group hike for staff to Wildcat Mountain State Park Ice Cave Trail during inservice. The walk to the ice cave was about 3/4 of a mile round trip. They also went to the lookout point to enjoy the views after the hike.

Kirsten Wood earned the sportsmanship award. Kindale Williams and Maddy Benson both earned 1st team all-conference and Maddy Benson received player of the year!
Last week the Elementary students celebrated Read Across America week. This year's theme was "Books that make you LOL!" On Thursday, each class went to the library where different community members read funny stories to them. Afterwards, each student had the opportunity to choose a book, a bookmark, and a treat. It was a fun experience!

Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team who competed in the regional event on Tuesday. Great job on all your hard work and representing our school!
In 4th grade, social studies focuses on Wisconsin. Recently, the 4th grade students have been learning about where Wisconsin is in the world. This involves studying maps to better understand hemispheres, continents, countries, regions, states, and counties.
In Mrs. Ellingen's room, many of the older students learn strategies and specific techniques to make the vocalic “r” sound (or, er, ar, ire, ear, air). This is when speech production gets serious and students work super hard to figure out how their tongue works best to make the vocalic “r” sounds! Two ways – Retroflexed Tongue or Bunched Tongue. Retroflexed is when the tongue tip goes up and “licks” the roof of the mouth back. Bunched is when the tongue is flat, moves back and bunches up in the back of the mouth. After students figure out what technique works best for them, they add in correct placement of lips and jaw!
La Farge Schools received grant money for technology in our schools. The art room was fortunate enough to receive iPads for 1:1 use. They've already been used for drawing videos, drawing apps, or school channel content and early finishers. Students have created stickers, personal logos and art just for fun so far!

On Fridays, the Kindergarteners write in their family journals! This is a great way for them to communicate with their loved ones while also practicing some key skills such as handwriting, proper sentence structure, and letter formation. These journals also double as keepsakes with memories throughout their year in Kindergarten, showing how they progressed throughout the year!
Due to weather conditions, La Farge Schools and Kickapoo Valley Forest School will be closed today. This is NOT a remote learning day. More information regarding how this day will be made up will be shared later in the week.
Attention Driftless Youth volleyball 4th-8th players! There is a change in the schedule for tomorrow’s practice. ALL grades will practice from 3:30-4:30, in the ‘36, due to a scheduling error.
A lot of things are starting this week as well, hunter safety and drama. I do not expect you to miss either of these due to volleyball. We will begin our regular scheduled times Thursday.

Congratulations to our district spelling bee participants! Our winner was Daisy and runner up, Sawyer. They will be competing in the regional spelling bee in Westby on March 28th.
