This past week in Guidance the 5th grade took another step in becoming responsible for their own learning. Each student can now track their performance through their Skyward Student Access account.
Spanish classes have been busy participating in some Mexican Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) traditions throughout the past couple of weeks. Students helped design and decorate an ofrenda altar in the classroom in memory of lost loved ones, learned about the customs behind these cultural celebrations, got to taste authentic pan de muerto (bread of the dead) and other cultural foods, and decorated calaveritas or sugar skulls. Feliz Día de Muertos!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the drama performances for this weekend have been postponed.
Good Evening!

Last Thursday several elementary, middle and high school classes helped the Ag Processing class make apple cider. Apples were donated by Oakwood Fruit Farms and students learned how to grind, and squeeze the apples using a bladder press. After all the hard work the students were able to enjoy a fresh cup of apple cider.

The elementary students have been busy in Mrs. Michaels' music classes.
The Fifth Graders have been practicing songs on their recorders so that they can earn permission to take them home for practice. Our goal; make music, not noise!
The First Graders have been practicing moving instruments from their places on the shelves to their places on the floor so they can play them. The new music space makes these routines so much easier!
The Kindergarten, Second Grade, Third Grade, and Fourth Grade classes have been practicing some fun fall songs! Click on the link below to watch videos of each class.

Congratulations to our elementary students who have done a great job having empathy and showing compassions to others. These students were chosen by their teachers for doing an exceptional job at this. Great job making our school a better place!
Spanish 2 students just finished a food and restaurant unit and had the chance to try out their skills firsthand with a lunch date at Pacifico. They ordered their meals completely in Spanish and interacted with the waiter, who was thrilled to practice español with us! What a fun way to put language skills to use in real life outside the classroom!

5th grade practiced forming a hypothesis, testing it, and making observations with mold terrariums. These kinds of activities are important because they give students the opportunity to be engaged through hands-on experiences.

The middle and high school music students have been working so hard this quarter getting back into the swing of a "normal" band room. We've been discussing being proud of yourself and pushing your limits. The concert last night demonstrated the growth and development of the middle and high school musicians.
