A note from Nurse Emily:
As COVID-19 continues to spread in our area, we ask for your continued support and flexibility. If your student is ill, develops unexplained symptoms that could be related to COVID-19, or has been told to quarantine due to a close contact, please keep your child home, contact their primary care provider, and let the school know of their absence.
Please use the COVID-19 Health Screening Checklist from DHS (linked below) to determine if it is appropriate for your child to attend school. This checklist will also be used at school to assist in determining when to send ill students home. If you have questions regarding symptoms and testing, please contact our School Nurse by emailing Nurse Emily at oiume@lafarge.k12.wi.us, or calling the school office.
If your child is 12 or older and is fully vaccinated, please provide proof of their vaccination record to Nurse Emily. This will assist us in the process of contact tracing and quarantine guidelines, should your child be considered a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case. If you have any questions or concerns related to COVID-19, or the health of your child, please reach out to Nurse Emily.

"Hello! My name is Joe Zant. I am very excited to be the new fourth grade teacher in La Farge this upcoming school year! I’ve recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a degree in elementary education. Having grown up in Hillsboro, I am proud to begin my career as an educator so close to home. Previously, I have spent time as a DNR biologist in both Wisconsin and Utah. Currently, I live in Hillsboro with my wife and two boys. As a family we enjoy spending time outdoors whether it be running, fishing, camping, or swimming. I look forward to sharing such passions with my students, and can’t wait for the adventures that this upcoming school year will bring."
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Zant to #WildcatNation!

As we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year, we'd like to introduce some of our new staff members! Today, meet Dan Heitman, our new part-time 3rd grade support teacher.
"I am excited for round 2 in the classroom with the students and staff at La Farge. I had the privilege of teaching in the Viroqua district for 25 years. Since leaving Viroqua in 2015, I have worked at several endeavors, including as a vocational job coach, a paraprofessional for high schoolers, a caregiver for seniors, and even as an optical technician. They were all rewarding, but none as much as working in our schools. I look forward to the energy and daily adventures that elementary students offer!
My wife Sue and I (And our furry princess Grace) are happy to be back in the Driftless region. When we are not busy with our current remodeling project, we enjoy reading, short, "old people" hikes, learning about the birds in our area, and learning more about keeping saltwater fish."
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Heitman to La Farge!
